About Unit Price Calculator

The Unit Price Calculator works out the cost per unit of measurement, such as per millilitre, gram, or sheet. Enter the total price, the quantity or size, and a unit label, and it returns the price per single unit in that measure.

That makes it the right tool for comparing products sold in different sizes or units, like a 750 ml bottle against a 1 litre bottle. Because you supply the unit label yourself, the answer reads in the units you actually compare when shopping.

Enter the price, the size, and the unit label, then press Calculate to get the per-unit price.

Formula & Mathematical Calculation

Unit Price = Total Price ÷ Quantity

Where: Total Price = the price of the item in dollars, Quantity / Size = the amount contained in the item, Unit Label = the measurement unit you compare, such as ml, g, or oz.

Calculation Example

A bottle priced at $9.99 with a size of 750 ml works out to $0.0133 / ml. The calculator divides the price by the size and attaches the unit label you entered, so the answer reads directly in the measure you are comparing.

Key Benefits

  • Expresses any price per unit of measurement, in the unit label you provide.
  • Divides the total price by the quantity to four decimal places for precision.
  • Makes size-mismatched products comparable, such as different bottle volumes.
  • Blocks zero or negative quantities before dividing.
  • Restates the price, the quantity, and the per-unit cost in one summary line.

How to Use this Calculator

  1. Enter the total price
Type the price of the item in the Total Price field, for example 9.99.
  2. Enter the quantity or size
Type the amount contained in the item in the Quantity / Size field, for example 750.
  3. Enter the unit label
Type the measurement unit you want the answer in, in the Unit Label field, for example ml. If you leave it empty, the tool uses the word unit.
  4. Press Calculate
The tool divides the price by the quantity and shows the result per single unit of your label.
  5. Compare across products
Repeat for a competing product with the same unit label and compare the two per-unit prices.

Assumptions & Limitations

What the calculation assumes

  • Every value you enter is treated as an exact, known amount.
  • Rates and contributions are assumed to stay constant for the whole period unless the form asks for them separately.
  • Results use standard financial formulas and ignore fees, penalties and promotional terms that are not entered above.
  • Inflation, tax changes and market volatility are not modelled unless a field for them is provided.
  • Amounts are unit-agnostic: results are returned in the same currency you enter.

What it does not cover

  • Unit Price Calculator produces estimates for education and planning, not a quote, offer or professional advice.
  • Real-world outcomes differ when fees, taxes, rounding rules or provider-specific terms apply.
  • Local regulations and tax rules vary by country and change over time; verify current rules for your jurisdiction.
  • Figures are only as accurate as the inputs you supply — check them before acting on the result.
  • For decisions with lasting financial impact, confirm the numbers with a qualified professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

The total price is divided by the quantity or size you enter, and the result is shown per single unit of your chosen label.

Any label you type is used in the result, such as ml, g, oz, sheets, or count. Choose the measure you are comparing between products.

The calculator falls back to the word unit, so the answer is still shown as a price per single unit.

A division by zero has no meaning, so the tool asks for a quantity greater than zero before it calculates.
