Sleep Cycle Calculator
The Sleep Cycle Calculator takes your planned bedtime and returns the clock times to wake after 6 and after 5 full 90-minute sleep cycles, allowing 14 minutes to fall asleep.
What this calculator does
The Sleep Cycle Calculator estimates your result instantly from the values you enter, using standard health & fitness formulas. The Sleep Cycle Calculator takes your planned bedtime and returns the clock times to wake after 6 and after 5 full 90-minute sleep cycles, allowing 14 minutes to fall asleep. Calculations run in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to a server, and the output is an estimate rather than a certified or official figure.

About Sleep Cycle Calculator
The Sleep Cycle Calculator works backward from a bedtime you plan to keep. It assumes a typical 90-minute sleep cycle and adds roughly 14 minutes to drift off before the count begins.
Enter a single bedtime and it returns two target wake times – one after six cycles and one after five – so you can pick a wake-up that lands at the end of a cycle rather than the middle of one.
Formula & Mathematical Calculation
Wake After 6 Cycles = f(Planned Bedtime)
Calculated according to standard health formulas implemented in the calculator core.
Calculation Example
Suppose you plan to go to bed at 22:30. The tool converts this to minutes (22 × 60 + 30 = 1350) and adds 14 minutes to fall asleep, giving 1364.
Adding six 90-minute cycles (540 minutes) gives 1904 minutes, which wraps to 464 minutes past midnight – 07:44. Adding five cycles (450 minutes) gives 1814 minutes, or 374 minutes – 06:14. Those are the two wake times shown.
Key Benefits
- Turns a single bedtime into two concrete wake-up clock times.
- Builds in a 14-minute allowance for the time it takes to fall asleep.
- Uses a fixed 90-minute cycle length so results are easy to reproduce.
- Handles times that cross midnight by wrapping onto a 24-hour clock.
How to Use this Calculator
-
Enter your bedtime
Type or pick the time you plan to go to bed in the Planned Bedtime field. -

Read the wake times
Read the Wake After 6 Cycles and Wake After 5 Cycles values shown in the result boxes.
Assumptions & Limitations
What the calculation assumes
- Every value you enter is treated as an exact, known amount.
- Any rate or interval you enter is assumed to hold for the whole period unless the form asks for it separately.
- Results use standard published formulas and account only for the values entered above.
- Rounding is applied for display; the underlying calculation uses your full precision.
- Results are returned in the same units you enter, unless the tool states the output unit.
What it does not cover
- Sleep Cycle Calculator produces a calculated result for reference and learning, not a certified or official measurement.
- Real-world outcomes differ when tolerances, rounding rules or local standards apply.
- Definitions and standards vary by region and change over time; verify the convention that applies to your case.
- Figures are only as accurate as the inputs you supply — check them before acting on the result.
- For work where the result carries real consequences, confirm it against an authoritative source.
