About Business Hours Calculator

The Business Hours Calculator turns a date range into a working-time total. Give it a start date, an end date, and how many hours your team works each day.

It counts only Monday through Friday between the two dates (both ends included) and multiplies those business days by your hours per day.

Formula & Mathematical Calculation

start = new Date(sraw + 'T00:00:00')

end = new Date(eraw + 'T00:00:00')

Derived directly from the verified calculation function in the tool engine.

Calculation Example

Take a start date of Mon 2 June 2025, an end date of Fri 6 June 2025, and 8 work hours per day.

  • Calendar days (inclusive): 5
  • Weekend days in that span: 0, so business days = 5
  • Business hours: 5 × 8 = 40

The result shows 40 Total Business Hours and 5 Business Days.

Key Benefits

  • Converts a plain date range into billable or scheduled working hours
  • Automatically skips Saturdays and Sundays when counting business days
  • Lets you set any work-hours-per-day value, defaulting to 8 if left blank
  • Shows both the business-day count and the total hours side by side

  • Any rate or interval you enter is assumed to hold for the whole period unless the form asks for it separately.
  • Results use standard published formulas and account only for the values entered above.
  • Rounding is applied for display; the underlying calculation uses your full precision.
  • Results are returned in the same units you enter, unless the tool states the output unit.

What it does not cover

  • Business Hours Calculator produces a calculated result for reference and learning, not a certified or official measurement.
  • Real-world outcomes differ when tolerances, rounding rules or local standards apply.
  • Definitions and standards vary by region and change over time; verify the convention that applies to your case.
  • Figures are only as accurate as the inputs you supply — check them before acting on the result.
