Adjusted Body Weight Calculator

This tool estimates ideal body weight from sex and height, then computes an adjusted body weight that folds in 40 percent of the gap between your actual weight and that ideal. Both results are shown in kilograms.

What this calculator does

The Adjusted Body Weight Calculator estimates your result instantly from the values you enter, using standard health & fitness formulas. This tool estimates ideal body weight from sex and height, then computes an adjusted body weight that folds in 40 percent of the gap between your actual weight and that ideal. Both results are shown in kilograms. Calculations run in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to a server, and the output is an estimate rather than a certified or official figure.

About Adjusted Body Weight Calculator

The Adjusted Body Weight Calculator first converts your height from centimeters to inches, then applies a base of 50 kg for males or 45.5 kg for females plus 2.3 kg for every inch over 60. That gives an ideal body weight.

It then adds 40 percent of the difference between your actual weight and the ideal to produce the adjusted body weight, displaying both numbers in kilograms to one decimal place.

Formula & Mathematical Calculation

Ideal Body Weight (kg) = f(Sex, Height (cm), Actual Weight (kg))

Calculated according to standard health formulas implemented in the calculator core.

Calculation Example

Choose Male, enter 175 cm and 95 kg. Height converts to 175 ÷ 2.54 = 68.9 inches, which is 8.9 inches over 60.

Ideal body weight = 50 + 2.3 × 8.9 = 70.5 kg. Adjusted body weight = 70.5 + 0.4 × (95 - 70.5) = 80.3 kg. The two boxes show 70.5 kg and 80.3 kg.

Key Benefits

  • Combines sex, height, and actual weight into two figures in one step: ideal body weight and adjusted body weight.
  • Applies the standard base-plus-per-inch ideal weight formula so you do not convert height to inches yourself.
  • Shows both kilogram results rounded to one decimal place with a note stating the adjustment formula.
  • Free, browser-based, and requires no account.

How to Use this Calculator

  1. Select sex
Pick Male or Female from the Sex dropdown; this sets the 50 kg or 45.5 kg base.
  2. Enter height and weight
Type your height in the Height (cm) field and your current weight in the Actual Weight (kg) field.
  3. Calculate and compare
Select Calculate to see Ideal Body Weight (kg) and Adjusted Body Weight (kg).

Assumptions & Limitations

What the calculation assumes

  • Every value you enter is treated as an exact, known amount.
  • Any rate or interval you enter is assumed to hold for the whole period unless the form asks for it separately.
  • Results use standard published formulas and account only for the values entered above.
  • Rounding is applied for display; the underlying calculation uses your full precision.
  • Results are returned in the same units you enter, unless the tool states the output unit.

What it does not cover

  • Adjusted Body Weight Calculator produces a calculated result for reference and learning, not a certified or official measurement.
  • Real-world outcomes differ when tolerances, rounding rules or local standards apply.
  • Definitions and standards vary by region and change over time; verify the convention that applies to your case.
  • Figures are only as accurate as the inputs you supply — check them before acting on the result.
  • For work where the result carries real consequences, confirm it against an authoritative source.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ideal body weight comes from height and sex; the adjusted figure adds 40 percent of the gap between your actual weight and that ideal.

The ideal-weight formula adds 2.3 kg for each inch above 60, so the centimeter entry is divided by 2.54 first.

The base weight changes: 50 kg is used for Male and 45.5 kg for Female before the per-inch amount is added.

Both the ideal and adjusted body weight are shown in kilograms, rounded to one decimal place.
